1. Your first payment: 14 days
If you subscribe to Pro (US$6.99 a month or US$49 a year) and change your mind, email us within 14 days of your first payment and we refund it in full. No questions, and it does not matter how much you used Pro.
This covers the first payment of a new subscription. If you live in the EU or the UK, it also honours your legal right to withdraw from the contract within 14 days.
2. Renewals: 7 days
Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. If a renewal charge surprised you, email us within 7 days of the renewal and we refund it in full, as long as you have not used Pro content since it renewed.
"Not used" means that no Pro drill, opening, lesson, endgame or Puzzle Sprint session is recorded on your account after the renewal date. Opening the app or using the free content does not count. After 7 days, or once Pro content has been used, a renewal is not refunded, but you can cancel so it does not renew again.
3. How to ask for a refund
- Email hello@chesstrainer.ai from the address on your account.
- Say that you would like a refund. A reason helps us improve, but you do not have to give one.
- We reply by email, issue the refund through Stripe and cancel the subscription, unless you ask to keep it.
4. When the money arrives
We answer refund requests within 5 business days. Stripe then returns the money to the card you paid with, which usually takes 5 to 10 business days to show on your statement, depending on your bank. Sales tax or VAT charged on the payment is refunded with it.
5. Cancelling instead
You do not need a refund to stop paying. Cancel any time in Profile, then Manage subscription. Nothing renews after that, and you keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for. We do not refund the unused part of a period when you simply cancel, except as described above.
When Pro ends, your account moves to Free. Your progress, streak and all free content stay.
6. If we close the service
If we ever shut ChessTrainer.ai down, we email you at least 30 days before and refund the unused part of any Pro time you have paid for in advance, pro rata. You do not need to ask.
7. The earned trial
The trial you earn with a 3-day streak is free and never asks for a card, so there is nothing to refund. It ends on its own after 72 hours.
8. Your legal rights
This policy adds to your rights under consumer law; it does not replace them. If the law where you live gives you more, you get more. See also our terms of service.
